{summertime}

Here are a few other pictures from today and a few days ago.  Our chalk fun carried over to when we got home today.  The weather was lots cooler today so it was nice to be outside in the afternoon and not be sweltering!

She was telling me that there are "tweet tweets" in the tree by our sidewalk!

She is such a character!!  The faces she makes crack me up!!  I don't even know what she was doing here, but this is pretty priceless!!

They found a few dandelions in the grass today.  He was wishing for "more dandelions!"  HA!

I told her to show me a trick...this is what she came up with!  Downward dog anyone?!

This was taken Sunday evening at Mom and Dad's...They were ho-ing the garden!

The other morning they wanted their picture taken!

We have been taking advantage of being back in Bozeman this summer!! Tonight we headed to Farmers Market with Mom.  BJ is out of town again for the night, so we bought dinner at Farmers and had supper on the grass at Bogert Park.  Cash chased after [older] girls...who told me that he was "so cute!!"  and Clara and Mom and I watched mini dancers dance to fiddlers.  It looked like rain but never actually rained on us.  I love summertime here!!  Tomorrow is lunch on the lawn and then bite of Bozeman in the evening.  I think by the time fall arrives, we won't have much to regret, we've been soaking up any activity we can in the last few months :)

chalk on the walk

This morning we headed downtown for what I always think is the start of the Sweet Pea week, Chalk on the Walk.  I have only gone once (before we moved...) with Cash and have been looking forward to taking the kids!  Sweet Pea headquarters hands out packs of chalk to the kids and they go crazy all over the sidewalks downtown.  We met up with Ryan and Nana (who were having special time together) and got busy!

Cash is pretty artistic.  I think he can draw better than BJ and I already!  Funny how you can see these little traits blooming already.  I can already tell that he can draw.  He was drawing daisy and sea turtles!

He takes his artwork pretty serious!

This may be my new favorite pic of Clara!!

It's so nice to be back home to participate in things like chalk on the walk.  In years past, I always had to skip coming to town since we always come for Bite of Bozeman (tomorrow night) and the actual Sweet Pea Festival (this weekend!).  I am thankful that we are back in Bozeman where I feel like we belong.

Dinner Camp-Out

We went up to Fairy Lake on Sunday afternoon to have a dinner camp-out.  Cash LOVES when we go out "in the mountains" and Clara is starting to like it too!  We grilled chicken and I made pasta salad.  It's nice to get out and 'semi camp'...I'm not brave enough to tent camp with these two yet!!

family fun at the [fair]

I grew up going to the fair.  I don't really remember a time when we didn't go.  Through all my years dancing, I always danced at least one night during the duration and many times we would go to the fair more than one day.  For me, it just reminds me of summertime.

The last time I went to the fair, I had a horrible allergic reaction to what I thought was the hay in the animal barns.  Flash forward a few years, and I have discovered a severe allergy to horses!! I haven't ventured to the fair in many years, but really wanted to take the kids this year.  BJ wasn't too thrilled to go, fairs weren't something he did growing up, but was agreeable anyway.  Of course, the night we chose to go, it was overcast and a storm was brewing...

I popped a Benadryl and a few cups of coffee before we decided to venture out.  Cash was thrilled!  We bought tickets to ride the rides (holy rip-off!!)  $10 for 9 tickets and all the rides take 2-3 tickets per ride...Well, it worked out anyway because the first ride he got on, he started yelling that it "went way too fast!!"  He was less than thrilled!

We checked out all the animal barns after our one ride while it was POURING rain.  Clara is such an animal lover!  Cash got a kick out of all the animals including a big, fat pig named Cash!  Clara said she wanted to go while we were checking out the pigs.  She kept pointing to them and sniffing saying "stinky"!  We opted out of the horse barn and my allergies were just fine!

Clara and BJ went on a carousel ride together.  Clara loved it!  I took lots of pics since BJ is actually KINDA smiling while he rides with his girl!

He didn't want to ride the carousel instead wanting to play the games to win a gold fish.  Better luck next year, Buddy...we don't need any gold fish around here...

We ate burgers and hot dogs and headed home.  I would have to say, our first family fair time was a success...maybe next time the sun will peek out for us!

**Strawberry Pickin'**

Strawberry picking is upon us!  We went to Rocky Creek Farm two summers ago (right before I had Clara) and did some raspberry picking.  This year since we are in BOZEMAN (!!!!) we were able to hit up strawberry season!  It was a little overcast the morning we went, which was actually kind of nice.  It's been pretty dang hot here the last few weeks (I dare to complain, that nasty white stuff will return in no time at all!).  The kids were happy, since they didn't have to be slathered in sun block before heading out.

Clara loved picking and then eating before the strawberry even clanked the bottom of her bucket!  She was COVERED in red, juicy goodness by the time we left!  Cash, as you can tell by the pics, takes pickin' real serious!  He was on the hunt the looks on his face showed!
