Cash's Birthday Invites

I wanted to make Cash's invites this year. Since he was born, I get the sudden urge at times to be creative :) So I made these over the weekend. He is having a small birthday party on his actual birthday with just his little friends. It should be cute! He has 6 friends that we are inviting. Not sure if all will make it over, but for sure Ryan will be there! :) I am not sure if you can see by the pic, but for the sides, I used brads that are shaped like screws. So for all of you that don't have a child that is invited to the party, here are the invites so you can see my creativity! haha And be certain, there will be LOTS of party pics to come!!!

I will never again judge another mother......

Me:: "Cash let's get on your boots, we are leaving"

Cash:: "No, shoes"

Me:: "Ok, which shoes?" I give him the option of black DC's or white Etnies

Cash:: "Blue shoes" He digs out his Keens from the summer......

Me:: "Let's take your socks off"

Cash:: "NO"

So, off we go with socks and sandals on.....thank God we were just going to the storage unit! Plus.....they apparently didn't even fit anymore, since he had them kicked off within 10 minutes of our car ride :)

Rocky Creek Farm

Cash and I took a road trip to Bozeman the other day to head to the pumpkin patch at Rocky Creek Farm. Mom was watching Ryan that day, so we packed up both boys and headed to the patch! Andrea also met us over with Cece. Little did we know, it was a school holiday of sorts, and every small child in town and their parent had the same idea as us! They have two tractors that pull the hayride down to the pumpkin patch and then you unload and pick out your pumpkin and head back to the main area. Sounds easy....right??
Well, not so easy when one of the tractors breaks down, and everytime we would go to get on the ride, in two seconds flat, it was full already. We were able to see the other sights on the grounds. They had several piglets that were pretty exciting to watch. Although at different times, the boys found chewing on the wood fence much more fun! They also had chickens. Or, as Cash would say "chick chick" and Ryan "CHICK-ON" the two were pretty hilarious. Both boys totally enjoyed swinging. But after what seemed like hours of waiting, and waiting on that tractor to come back around, we settled on buying some fresh squeezed apple cider. You fill up a box of apples and they put them through the apple press while you wait. It was WONDERFUL!!! I must admit that I have drank 3 glasses of it today!!

So we ended up leaving the pumpkin patch sans pumpkins....but Safeway had some huge ones for 5 bucks that I picked up, and will totally do the trick! This will probably be the last year we can go to a patch for a pumpkin and not leave with one, as we were leaving, Cash was yelling "tractor"......I guess he knows more than I give him credit for :)

bye-bye tonsils::

Friday morning we ventured to Bozeman Deaconess to have Cash's tonsils taken out. I was totally dredding the morning because of my sweet baby having to get surgery and put under, and because he was unable to drink any juice the morning of. We managed to survive both the juice withdrawal, and the surgery. We checked in at 7 and were swept off to a room for Cash to get his baby nightgown on for surgery.

They gave him some Vercet (not sure if that's how to spell it...) and he started to calm down and it had a drunk-like effect on him. I was able to ride on the gurney with him right up to the OR doors. The drugs had taken full effect and when the nurse took him from me, he didn't even give it a fight. The surgery lasted about 25 minutes, and before we knew it, we were in the recovery room with him.

After about an hour or so in recovery, we were wheeled to a room of our own. Tonsillectomy is usually an outpatient proceedure, but since he is under 3 they required him to stay overnight to be observed.

He amazingly well! I was shocked that not long after waking up, he was asking for juice and ate 3 cups of Jell-O! He was talking, and even, get this....ate a piece of pizza for lunch!! Who the heck eats pizza right after they get their tonsils out!!!

As you can see by the pics, he was given an IV in his foot, and he still thinks that the boo-boo he went in and got was in his foot, not his throat! But really, can you blame him?!? They sure wrapped it up tons! The other thing on his foot was for his Pulse-Ox. It lit up red and he thought that one was pretty cool, and didn't seem to mind it too much.

We all are very glad that he did so well, and we are back at home recovering! The doctor warned me that usually day 4 or 5 get worse again, so I am bracing for Tuesday and Wednesday this week. But as of tonight, he went to bed without a fight, and is only on Tylenol for pain. I keep asking him if he has a boo-boo and he just says "no"....so I guess he is doing well!! He is acting just like his old self, and for that we are very thankful!!!

part 2: day 1 after surgery

I am pretty sure this post speaks for itself.....Cash was VERY ready to go home by Saturday am. He wanted NOTHING to do with being cramped up in that hospital room (who would!) and kept going back and forth with telling me "home" or "downstairs" (which meant he wanted to walk around the halls). Poor kiddo! After another round of antibiotics to choke down, and a painful i.v pain medicine, we were finally on our way home! The pic with Cash and BJ says it all. He was a very happy boy to be home, and to be honest, if we didn't know better, you would never have guessed he had just had surgery the morning before.

tonsils part 3::day 2 of recovery

Here is Cash enjoying the quilt that the hospital gave him. There are a group of ladies in Bozeman that make hats for the newborns and quilts for the kids admitted to the hospital. I knew about the hats for the babies, but wasn't aware of the quilts until the other day. What a cute idea, huh? Cash got to pick a quilt out and take it home. I washed it all up, and he enjoyed it this afternoon. He was also enjoying more noodles today, dressed up in his Halloween costume none the less!

[fridge farm]

Cash re-found his fridge farm this am. It's noisy....but kept him entertained for quite a while....I think we will keep it around!

This is my Heaven

Do you ever have one of those days, where you think "this is my heaven"...I always think this every fall. When the leaves are bright shades of red, yellow and orange. Where it literally looks like the heavens are shining down a flashlight, to light up the trees. Fall is my favorite time of year, and I wish it lasted longer! The mornings are cool (really, really cool if you happen to live in the "mining city") the days are still warm enough to go without a jacket, and the evenings cool off to remind you that winter is on its way.

Yesterday it was beautiful outside. Warm, acutally. BJ was out with Keith riding dirtbikes, so I decided to pack up my little man and take some pictures of the awesome fall foliage. Mother nature did not dissapoint me! As I headed out of town, my small road warrior was bobbling his head in his carseat, so I took the opportunity to pull out along Hwy 2 and snap some pictures of the scenery. I want to frame every last shot I took!

Cash finally woke up, and so we found a quiet spot along a dirt road and took some pics. He thinks it's pretty funny to set the camera to auto and run to get in the picture. He laughs and laughs as I push the self timer button and run to take the shot. It helps that he is quite the ham and smiles on que everytime :) I also wanted to take some pictures for his birthday invites. So I dressed him up in his "2" shirt and took these pics.

It was actually starting to get hot, and the farther we went on our journey, we found that the leaves had already fallen off many of the trees. So since the Jeep thermometer said it was 82 outside, I figured it was a good opportunity for some ice cream. Off we went to Dairy Queen. Cash just started liking ice cream again (I know...how could he have been my son, and NOT liked ice cream!! I ate gallons when I was pregnant with him!) He was sooo stinkin cute with his cone, that I figured my photo shoot shouldn't end with the trees. We sat on the bench and "chatted", he pointed out trucks, and buses, and imitated the noises we heard.

So, like I said before, this fall afternoon yesterday, was my heaven. When I close my eyes and think of what a perfect day would be like, I think I got pretty close to it yesterday. A beautiful fall day, and my little guy to spend it with. The only thing missing was my big guy, and I can venture to say that motorcycle riding in the mountains may just be his slice of heaven.

Cash and Ryan and a side of Cece

I am not sure if you all know, but our *beloved* Aunt An is a nanny for Cece. She is the daughter of Lauren, the gal who was our photographer for our weddings. Andrea brought her over the other day to play with the boys. They love her! She was squeeling and giggling at them as they ran and chased eachother around the house. I am sure if she could talk she would let us all know that she wished she knew how to walk like those boys, because they were having tons of fun!
